National Sewing Month

Hand Quilting Mom's quilt

So, September is National Sewing Month...can't figure out where to start, I have far too many projects on the go. Maybe I'll put the finishing touches on these quilts.....Moms, Allison's, Taylor's, and get the others on their way to completion. After that, HALLOWEEN COSTUMES!!!! So excited for this years' costume, I won't tell you what it is until I post the final picture. It will be a combination of sewing & make-up creativity.

I've been saying this for far too long, I want to start selling product!! I just don't know where to start. What are people looking for, what do people want?? I thought I knew, but they don't want to pay the price for customization. Please, I need ideas & how much you're willing to pay.

Ok, I'm off to sew now, let's see how much I can get done on mom's quilt today =)

time flies by!!

wow!! has it really been over a month since i blogged?!?! i have no idea where the time goes, still getting used to working full time i guess. by the time i get home, it's been a 10 hr day (including the drive to & from work)

last weekend i took a trip to Vancouver to visit my cousin (much needed sister cousin time) and to shop for some inexpensive sewing supplies. Let me tell you, the trip was definitely worth it!! =D I met up with my friend Tanya (a fellow sewing addict) and we started off at Dressew, where we probably spent  good hour or two. It's kind of hard to walk away from 5000-10,000 yd spools of thread for only $0.99. Thankfully I only bought about a dozen, and also go some notions.

After, we literally went around the corner to ButtonButton...actually I think I ran down the hill a little bit LOL. I can't wait to move over to Vancouver, that will be my spot to go to for buttons.
Then we ventured down the street to a wholesale fabric shop. Dirt cheap prices, couldn't believe it! I got some beautiful purple fabric, light weight twill I think, to make a jacket. I envision it being lining with black satin with white polka dots.
And this is only 1 wall of the store =)

Ahhh then break time =) We went up Seymour St to a great Japanese restaurant. And what are the odds that you'll see someone you know in that huge of a city in ONE out of thousands of restaurants?? I seen a family friend in there, man it was good to see her smiling face.

We went on an adventure through Gastown, stopping in some of the local boutiques...I hate to criticize others work, but some of those designers take so many obvious shortcuts and don't seem to have a lot of pride in their work. Im thinking to myself "hey if this is what they're selling, I'm already there, I can do this!"

So it was quite the inspiring trip, both creative & emotionally.
I finally had some time last night to get started on some store product, I'm VERY excited to finally get it going. Enough of being scared, time to fly!!

my biggest wish

Man, do i ever miss sewing all the time! Now that money isn't an issue, time is the issue LOL!! At least I have two days off in a row this week, just means I have to work saturday =*( boo hoo, no full day with my honey

Will try to get some pics up, I been taking them with my iPhone, which isn't cooperating in uploading pictures, grrr!

A trip to Fabricland is in order tomorrow so i can get some more material to finish cutting out my niece's quilt. Her baby shower is on March. 5, hope that's enough time to get 'er done!

Please, please invite your friends to follow, and leave comments or suggestions. Anything so I know I'm not alone lol. Thanks for reading

ideas??

I still don't have many followers, wondering what I can do to improve my blog? What am I missing that other bloggers have that gets them 100's, even 1000's of followers??

I've decided I'm going to apply to VCAD in Vancouver, very excited, their courses are AMAZING!! Soon enough you'll be seeing this girls creations in fashion magazines =D

I finally opened my Zibbet.com store, I've made a plan as to what I'm going to sew now that I have money...but unfortunately I don't have the HUUUGE amount of spare time that I did before. So please forgive me if I neglect this site while I adjust to working full time. I've done it before, sewed & sewed & sewed and worked full time.

Please, I welcome constructive criticism from all you experienced bloggers or even followers that think I'm lacking a special something.
